Paramedics are qualified medical personnel who work alongside the Doctors, Nurses etc. in treating the patients. They can be typically employed in the ICU, OT, Emergency, Ambulances and Trauma units, various departments of hospital etc.

In modern days Paramedical Science has emerged as an important branch of medical science. Without paramedics the entire health industry is out of gear and almost non functional. Keeping this in mind Charnock Healthcare Institute has launched the first Paramedic College in West Bengal offering full time regular degree courses under the affiliation of WBUHS (which is the premier Govt. University offering MBBS, MD, MS, MCh degree). The curriculum is industry oriented and taught by eminent faculty of the medical fraternity. Hands-on practical training is done at parent and affiliate hospitals.

Who are Paramedics?
Paramedical staff comprise of qualified and technically trained people who assist Doctors in treating patients next to nursing staff.
Departments they work in:
Operation Theatres, ICU, Dialysis, Emergency, Laboratories, Imaging, Ambulances etc.
They are required in each and every hospital. Typically a 100 bedded hospital will need 70 paramedical staff.
What are the Skills required for being a Paramedic?
Should be qualified from a reputed institute and have hands-on training.
How is this different from other Paramedical institutes (offering 2 years diploma)?
Other institutes are offering 2 years Diploma etc. We are offering B.Sc Degree courses which is awarded by West Bengal University of Health Sciences (the apex body which awards MBBS, MS, MD, MCh degrees)
This is the first time a 3 year full time Degree course is being launched in WB (by a private institute).
What is the Eligibility Criteria for this course ?
10+2 with Science from any recognized school (JENPARH candidates are preferred)

Admission Criteria
Eligibility Criteria:
Age: 17 years as on 1st September.
Qualification: Higher Secondary (10 +2) Examination with science (PCB) of a recognized Board. Marks (English, Physics, Chemistry & Biology). Marks of EVS or Vocational subjects will not be considered. JENPARH students are given preference.
Method of selection: Candidate will be selected on the basis of written test, GD & PI. Last date of submission of application: 31st July (up to 5 PM). Incomplete application will be treated as cancelled.
Course Details
Academic session: Sept. to Aug.
Course duration: 3 years (study period)- Part- I, Part- II & Part- III.
I) University (WBUHS) examination at the end of each part .
II) 75% of attendance including theory and practical and 50% in I.A (Internal Assessment) is required to appear University exam.
III) Two University examinations in one academic year, i.e. regular exam & supplementary exam.
IV) Candidate must pass one part of the University exam before appearing in the next part.
Internship: 1 year, after passing out the final exam. University certificate will be issued only after satisfactory completion of the Internship.
Rules and Regulations

1.Admission to all courses will be on the basis of eligibility marks in PCB and in the priority laid down by the University.

2.All admissions will be deemed as provisional as long as it is not approved by the University.

3.Admission fee once paid is not refundable.

4.Application form must be collected from the office of the Charnock Healthcare Institute or downloaded from our website (

5.Application form must be filled up by the candidates along with self attested photo-copy.

6.The Declaration in the application form is to be signed by the Guardian (Parents) and candidate.

7.Candidate must submit copy of the following documents along with the application form
   I.Higher Secondary Mark Sheet (Students will have to clear PCB in theory and Practical and also other       subjects)
   II. Age proof (Admit card of Madhyamic exam)
 III.Address Proof (Aadhar card or Voter card or Residential certificate issued by the Councillor/       Panchayat)
  IV. Passport size photo (Color, Recent) - 4 copies

8.Medical certificate of fitness of the candidate must be submitted on time of admission.
  I. Blood report & blood group (TC, DC, ESR, Hb)
  II. Urine report (routine)
  III. Vision test
  IV. Chest X-ray (P.A view)
  V. Vaccination certificate (Hepatitis B)

9.For any indiscipline conduct of the candidate during the course he/she may be dismissed by the authority of the organization.

10.If any false attestation/falsified record is detected, the admission will be cancelled of the candidate. In addition a criminal case under relevant section of IPC (Indian Penal Code) will be counted against him/her.

11.There is no hostel facility. Students are all day-scholars.

12.There is no vehicle facility on behalf of the institute.

13.College uniform will be borne by the students.

14.Expenses related to teaching materials, visits to Hospitals will have to bear by the students.

15.Organization will not be bound to offer employment to the candidates under any condition.
